Bass Fishing

Skip those docks!

You boated some really nice bass on topwater and spinnerbaits in the morning and now the sun is bearing down hard. There are ski boats everywhere and the fish are done biting... Or are they? The next time your out on Lake Anna and you find yourself in this situation try something a little different. Take a 1/16 to 1/8 oz jig head with a 3/0  hook and rig it with a 4-5 inch finesse worm (natural colors seem to work best).  Now find a row of docks on a shady shoreline, and skip your “shakey head” as far as you can under those docks (by the way use 6-8 lb test line on a spinning reel). Now let it sink to the bottom and give it a little jiggle, the slower the better. Work the docks pretty hard and focus on the hard shadow edges. This technique has boated plenty of 3-4 pound bass for me in the past, and will continue to be a “go to” in the right conditions.
